Bible Verse of the Month

Bible Verse of the Month: Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that
he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Going "Snow-where"

I looked out my window this morning and thought, "Well, I'm going snow-where today."

Here at the end of January, it has finally snowed!  A couple inches of fabulous, powder white packing snow, and I can't even go outside because I have a cold.  I can only look at the beautiful winter wonderland my yard has become.

My situation reminded me how sometimes as Christians we reach a point in our lives where we feel like we're snowbound.  Like we're simply waiting for things to unfold, or the snow (obstacle) to melt.

I have such a long list of things I need to do, and things I want to do, but can't do because of my present circumstances.

Right now I'm "stuck" in a period of waiting...waiting on the snow, and waiting on God.

So I want to take the time to share one of the most important truths we will ever learn.

(Drum roll!!!)

WAITING IS HARD.  (Period)

Because face it, humans are not the most patient creatures on God's earth.  We want things to be happening right when, and how we want them to happen.  We want everything to go our way.

Notice the use of the phrase "we want."  It's all about us right?

But we are no longer selfish individuals.  When we accept Christ's sacrifice, and become part of His family we are new creatures.  Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  And all things are of God - 2 Corinthians 5:17-16

It's not about us anymore.  It's all about God.

Sure things WILL happen, but not always the way "we want," or when "we want" them to.  For your thoughts are not my thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. - Isaiah 55:8

He knows our future...

For I know the thoughts I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. - Jeremiah 29:11

We are never really "stuck."  When God says "wait" He always has a plan, and a purpose for us while we're waiting, even if we can't see it right away.  (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) - 2 Corinthians 5:7

Joseph was "stuck" in prison, but God had a plan. (Genesis chapters 39-31)

For we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28

Often God draws us from our work, and busyness to draw us closer to Him.  Even while we are serving the Lord, we can still be easily distracted from Him by the pressing of our own plans and agenda.  Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. - Psalm 37:4

There may be something else He wants us to focus on right now.  (For me, possibly this post?)

Perhaps He has an even better plan for us than we ever dreamed of!

He is always working, even while we're waiting.

I could look at my time of sickness like a calamity, or I could look at it as a time of rest, to write, reflect, and renew my spirit.  A blessing in disguise.

I might seem to be going snow-where, but I am going somewhere in my relationship with Jesus Christ!

I think I'll publish this post, fix a cup of peppermint tea, and grab my Bible for a little quiet time. I'm not too sick to relax, (thank God:) or enjoy a nice warm fire.  Maybe I will find some verses about snow!  Speaking of which...

Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of war? - Job 38:22-23

Who says you have to go outside to enjoy the snow?

What about you?

Are you snowbound?

Feel like you're going snow-where?

Stuck in a drift?

Waiting for the snow to melt?

(Wishing for snow-more snow puns?;)

Then you could ask yourself,

"What does God have for me to do right where I am?"

"What is He teaching me through this?"

"How can I glorify Him in my weakness?"

New Year, New Post!

Hi blogging world!  Long time no post;)  I honestly have no excuse, except maybe that I couldn't make up my mind where I wanted to go with my blog, and what sort of posts I wished to write...

Well guess what!  I think I've made up my mind now:)  I'm not going to over think my posts anymore.  (or stress over them either:)

Instead, I'm just going to post about my life, little bits here and there of what God is teaching me, and believe me, I'm a slow learner!

But most of all, I'd like to post my thoughts about things.  I hope you don't mind?  If you do, speak now or forever hold your peace.  (fake cricket chirping in the background;)

All I hear is the roaring of our wood fire, and the clicking of my keyboard, so...

speaking of posts about my life...
