Bible Verse of the Month: Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that
he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

My Country Girl Life

Me, lately...

Waking up a little late because it's not milking season yet, (and the goats can wait;)

Picking out seeds for my new garden

Helping mom make dinner

Writing a story that will be every bit as fantastic as "The Hobbit"

Searching the web trying to find an affordable chicken coop suitable for Silkie bantams

Dancing around the house trying to avoid my sisters "quilts in progress" scattered all over the floor

Reading my favorite book "The Hobbit" to see if it's as good as I remember, only to discover it's even better

Watching an old "Roy Rogers" movie with "Trigger" and "Dale Evans"

Planning one project only to be instantly distracted by a new idea

Mucking stalls to prepare for new "goat kids" that are due to show up any day now

Learning to make soap so I can sell it at my local farmers market

Reading the book of Peter in my Bible and being amazed at how eloquent and plain spoken that small town fisherman was, and feeling like we're related because my dad is a fisherman too :)

Waiting patiently for Monday (my favorite day in the week) when Blimey Cow's new YouTube video comes out

Dreaming about Neverland

Learning about world geography through pinterest

Practicing "Amazing Grace" on my guitar (when I remember to)

Eating my mom's homemade ice cream for breakfast (okay, we don't do it that often;)

Wishing that every like-minded young girl my age didn't live so far away

Watching the sun set over the creek in our backyard

Listening as my brother describes his latest Lego creation, or favorite game

Learning to love and respect my mom even more as she teaches me about what she knows

Playing with my red and white dachshund Toby, who is my "best friend"

Breathing in the delightfully salty air that comes from living near the Chesapeake

Planning plans, and dreaming dreams, and all sorts of other things

Wondering what God's plan is for "My Country Girl Life"

What is your life like?

  1. I love Roy Rogers! Such an amazing person, and his movies and TV show are so fun. I can't wait for my kids to be old enough to enjoy them too.

My life? I'm a homeschooling stay-at-home mom with 3 kids, ages 1, 3, and 5. My life is busy! Once the kids are in bed at night, I have an hour or so to write or watch movies, my tiny slice of me-time that I look forward to all day. Other than that, I spend my days doing laundry, cooking, playing with my kids, cleaning when absolutely necessary, and doing a bit of reading/crocheting/knitting/sewing/blogging when I get a chance :-)

I spotted your link on The Country Handmaiden's blog and thought I'd drop by and take a look at yours. Hi! We live in Virginia right now too!

    1. Hey Hamlette!
Do you know what? Most people these days have never even heard of Roy Rogers? I think that's a shame. His movies have got to be some of the cleanest, coolest westerns ever made.
There are three kids in our family too! There is my older sister Logan, (she sews quilts, and has two blogs devoted to that hobby, "Logan Makes a Mess", and "Sew Scissor Happy.") me,and my younger brother Andrew.
I love to read, sew, and knit too!
I'll have to visit your blog sometime:)
      Thanks for commenting!

    2. Isn't it a shame that Roy Rogers is so unknown? Good, clean fun is hard to find in modern movies and shows. I have a favorite line from one of the eps of his show. Pat had whacked his hand with a hammer and was complaining about it, and Roy said, "Aw, it's too far from your heart to hurt ya." I use that a lot on my kids ;-)

Mmm! I envy you for that! I'm on a self imposed diet right now along with my sisters and although I've not been as strict as I should be, I still miss sweets a lot. And home-made ice cream for breakfast sounds yum!

Ah, you just read my mind. I've wished that SO many times. It seems all the girls that are kindred spirits live out of state. :(

  3. Hi Rebekah!

The secret to homemade ice-cream for breakfast is my mom's healthy recipe! My whole family loves it. It tastes good, without all of the bad stuff:) I could send it to you if you like.
